This is a prehispanic village wich name means place to lookout, and through the years has been a reunion center for important artist such as Pedro Coronel, Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, and many more.

Colonial architecture: It keeps marvelous colonial building in the Michoacán style such as the Franciscan ex-convent from the XVI century, and a annexed temple with a plateresc style front

Handcrafts: They make cloths and shawls and furniture to export.

Interesting place: "El molino" (the mill) a large house where seminars and summer courses for children in all the country take place.

Historical site: It has the honor of being the birth place of one of the heroes of the Mexican Independence, Luisa Martinez, shoot here by the "realistas" authority.
